And the winner is… Airstream
The Mothership was awarded two distinguished awards this month during the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) national trade show in Louisville, Kentucky.
Airstream, Inc. received DSI Quality Circle Award Honors from the RV Dealers Association in both Trailer and Motorhome Segments. (The award is given to brands/manufacturers who scored 80 percent or above in overall dealer satisfaction in the association’s annual Dealer Satisfaction Index survey.)
“After a busy 2014, it is gratifying to receive not one, but two awards from a respected association like RVDA,” said Airstream CEO and President Bob Wheeler. “One of our key strategic initiatives here at Airstream is to enhance the customer experience through our dealers. As a result, we have implemented several tools to serve our dealers better in the hopes it will enhance the customer experience. The recognition from our dealers in getting these awards shows me we are on the right path.”
Airstream has recently announced a major plant expansion at the Jackson Center factory, as well as major renovations to their tech support call center.
“Airstream is making investments in all areas of the company,” said Wheeler. “The production expansion will help reduce lead times for our dealers and provide us with added tools and space to continue to produce industry-leading, quality Airstreams. In addition, the renovation of our service facility shows our commitment to enhancing the customer experience for both our dealers and ‘Streamers alike.”

“The hitch you’ll never miss”
Target Hitch, a new hitch alignment system, does what your backup camera can’t.
It’s fiendishly simple: attach a small device magnetically to the back of your tow vehicle; pop another onto the front of your Airstream. Back up while remaining in the comfort of your truck, watching as two red crosshairs on a monitor guide you into place for a perfect hitch alignment. (A bright vertical laser indicates the position for the hitch; the horizontal laser tells you when to stop.) Boom, you’re done. Now jump out, pop off the two devices, drop the pre-positioned coupler directly down onto the ball, and pull away.
“We call it ‘the marriage saver’,” laughed inventor James Trevino. “For new owners and a lot of couples, hitching up the trailer used to be a real nightmare. One person needed to drive while the other stood behind the vehicle yelling out directions and waving hand signals. Sometimes you have to try and try, over and over again. It’s stressful!”
Manufactured in the USA and Canada, the Target Hitch laser-alignment backup cam system has recently been made available for purchase—just in time as a last minute gift for the Airstreamer who has everything (especially for those who tow alone).
