Alumafiesta…in two weeks!

More than one hundred trailers will be present at Alumafiesta this year, including a caravan from the NorCal WBCCI unit commencing this week from Bakersfield, California.

Online registration for Alumafiesta has now closed, but walk-in registrations will be accepted. Attendees will need to arrange their own campsite. It’s peak season in Arizona, though, and campgrounds are at capacity. (Just another reason to sign up for Alumaevents early, online.)

Register now for Alumaflamingo

There’s still time and space available to join us in sunny Florida next month, Feb. 24—Mar. 1.

Take it from us, you’ll want to register for Alumaflamingo online. Though you’re welcome to, those who arrive without a pre-registration receipt will be required to park their rig in a holding area, walk to the reg desk, and wait in line before being assigned a campsite (while your fellow ‘streamers lounge in the sun or stroll the vendor displays). Sign up now and proceed directly to your site in Sarasota!

And speaking of Alumaflamingo…

Exciting Airstream and RV vendors are slated to be present at Alumaflamingo, including Dexter Axle, who will also host a tech seminar and schedule service.

Tampa RV will once again be the official Airstream dealer sponsor of the event, and will bring a shiny fleet of new models to tour.

Representatives from Airstream, Inc. will be joining in the fun as well—Justin Humphreys (VP Sales) will present his “State of Airstream” address, and Tim Maxwell (Regional Representative) will host tech seminars. Both Justin and Tim are looking forward to meeting and mingling with attendees.

Happy Trails, Schu!

Dave Schumann, Airstream GM Retiring
Dave Schumann

Airstream GM Dave Schumann will be retiring next month after 42 years of service with Airstream, Inc.

“Dave has been a huge asset to Airstream over the years and we will miss his leadership and great sense of humor,” wrote VP of Sales Justin Humphreys in a memo to dealers.

“It has been a great trip with many stops along the way,” said Dave. “I’ve had the opportunity to attend events and visit dealers in 48 states and five foreign countries. The people that I’ve met and the friendships I have made at WBCCI rallies are priceless. I can think of no better way to have made this trip than with Airstream!”

“I love Aluminum,” he continued. “A big ‘thank you’ to everyone that helped me along the way!”

Dave and his wife Karyn—the new owners of “Silver Schu”, a 25ft Flying Cloud—are planning exciting adventures across the country and abroad, starting with a trip this spring to explore Lake Michigan. Safe travels, Dave! We’ll see you down the road.

Rick March, Sr., a 27-year factory veteran, has been promoted into Dave’s position. Rick began working at Airstream in 1987, holding various positions in production before moving into management in owner relations and factory service. Most recently Rick served as travel trailer National Service Manager; next month, he’ll step into Dave’s role as General Manager, Parts and Service. Big schus to fill, indeed.

Mothership in the news

Airstream scored a glowing article recently in USA Today about the popularity of our aluminum coaches.

“Not only are the retro-looking ‘silver bullet’ travel-trailers still being built by hand at the same western Ohio site that has produced them for 60 years, but the company also can’t roll them out of there fast enough to meet the demand these days,” wrote the author, AP reporter Mitch Stacy.

“We can’t thank the Airstream community enough for making 2014 such a great year!” states a post on the Airstream Facebook page. Our pleasure!

Shop till you drop at Alumafiesta

A brand new Airstream store at Lazydays in Tucson will be open just in time for Alumafiesta.

“This brainchild of two industry leaders provides an immersive shopping experience representing the adventurous spirit of the Airstream brand,” states Airstream.com.  “This 100% dedicated Airstream store will deliver the quality, sales and service that is the Lazydays standard.”

Airstream service will also be available during Alumafiesta. (Appointments are strongly recommended.) “Known as the ‘RV Authority’, Lazydays is the go-to place for everything RV. At Lazydays Tucson, you’ll experience best-in-class customer service and be welcomed by a team of RV sales, finance, service and parts specialists.”

The Lazydays store—decorated in “Early Aluminum”—displays vintage photos framed in Airstream windows, and desks and checkout areas in the sales office feature Airstream-style furniture.

New Airstream game

Airstream, Inc. has partnered with an independent video game company to develop Family Vacation 2: Road Trip, published by Big Fish Games.

A lighthearted hidden-object adventure that integrates mini-games and puzzles, the wholesome game involves camping with the uber-suburban Simmons family who tow their late model Airstream to various western states with stops at attractions like Yellowstone, Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. (They even catch a glimpse of a UFO near Area 51.)

You’ll pack and find everything the family needs for their trip, go white water rafting, and keep their scrapbook, while locations like Old Faithful “come to life with wonderful animations and realistic sound effects.”
