“Beautiful campground!” raved Campendium reviewer Mobile_Mainahs. “It’s well maintained and the sunset views are breathtaking. The other campers were friendly and helpful when it came to Airstream-specific advice.”

“Reservation is relatively easy,” they continued. “This is a shareholder campground where the shareholders take turns being the host. We left a voicemail and they got back to us within the day to confirm our 2-night stay.”

“Nearby towns include Floyd, which is a great little town with lots of folk/bluegrass music going on nearly every night. Blacksburg and Christiansburg are nearby cities with all the stores you would expect.”

Reviewer “SteveTam9310” said it was “clean, comfortable and quiet. The shareholders of this park do a wonderful job of maintaining the grounds and the clubhouse. This park is perfect for relaxing as there will never be any crowds here due to its small size. The hiking paths are shaded and beautiful.”

“WatsonsWander” called Virginia Highland Haven “a lovely Airstream-only park with gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. I was a little hesitant after reading some reviews that mentioned the sites were close together. But when we arrived and saw the wide strips of grass and mature trees surrounding each site, my fears melted away.”

“We were immediately made to feel welcome by the hosts and invited to join in the nightly gatherings and events. The sunsets from atop the ridge overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains were spectacular, and hiking trails in the park scenic.”

“We ended up loving this park and had a great time exploring the surrounding area and getting to know the shareholders and guests. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again the next time we find ourselves in the area.”

Drawbacks reported by reviewers are few, but there are some:

The closest grocery store is about 20 minutes away in the town of Floyd, and selection is limited. Plan to arrive with a well-stocked fridge and pantry for your stay.

Expect weak connectivity and sporadic cell service.

No white box buddies allowed: Virginia Highland Haven is strictly for Airstream owners—and the policy will be enforced.

Some Airstreamers have had a little trouble finding the location with GPS, and the mountain location means narrow roads with twists and turns. “Be sure to check the park website for directions so your GPS doesn’t try to take you on a route that you really shouldn’t drive with an RV,” suggested WatsonsWander. “It is seemingly in the middle of nowhere—but we love it that way,” said Mobile_Mainahs.
