Big announcement from RVBusiness magazine: the new Airstream Basecamp travel trailer was just named the 2017 RV of the Year.
This month executives from five RV manufacturers joined representatives of RVBusiness, “Rollin’ On TV” (ROTV), and four corporate sponsors at the Northern Indiana Event Center in Elkhart, and unveiled Basecamp as the winner while filming for ROTV.
To determine the RV of the Year, RVBusiness editors conduct extensive analysis during the industry’s three major national shows—America’s Biggest RV Show, Elkhart County’s RV Open House, and the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) annual National RV Trade Show.
Basecamp, with an MSRP of $35,900, is sized and priced to appeal to a younger buyer at just 16 feet long with a base weight of 2,585 pounds and a 3,500-pound GVWR. It’s towable by a variety of small- and mid-sized SUVs and crossover vehicles.
“We created Basecamp to target the more ‘human-powered’ outdoor adventurer — someone into mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and snowboarding,” said Bryan Melton, general manager of Airstream travel trailers, who was on hand for the TV taping. “We’re thrilled that our hard work has paid off and to be recognized by RVBusiness with this award.”
Tune in to ROTV on January 29, 2017 to see a profile on the Basecamp.
